This is a sketch of the character Vin from the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. If you like science fiction and fantasy, these are books for you. 

The setting is a land known as the Final Empire, ruled by a tyrannical, supernatural king called Lord Ruler. For many centuries, the Lord Ruler has crushed the lower class into little more than slaves. The people of the lower class are called skaa and are not even viewed as human to the noble class. The skaa fear many things: their taskmasters, the Lord Ruler, his servants called steel inquisitors and obligators, the constantly falling ash, and the mists. The mist creeps out across the land during the night and are home to strange and terrifying creatures such as mistwraiths and kandra.

The noble classes have people who are able to draw power from various ingested metals. Called misting if they have one of these abilities or mistborn if they have all of them, these people are held in high regard. However, once in a while, noble blood will be mixed with that of the skaa and the beginnings of a rebellion begin to form . . .
